THE INSTITUTE
National Institute of Pharmceutical Education and Research(NIPER) is the first national level institute in pharmaceutical sciences with a proclaimed objective of becoming a centre of excellence for advanced studies and research in pharmaceutical sciences. The government of India has declared NIPER as an ‘Institute of national importance’. It is an autonomous body set up under the aegis of ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India. The Institute is conceived to provide leadership in pharmaceutical sciences and related areas not only within the country, but also to the countries in South East Asia, South Asia and Africa. NIPER is a member of association of Indian Univeresities and Association of Commonwealth Universities.
Location: The Institute is situated at S.A.S. Nagar, Mohali, adjoining Chandigarh. PCA stadium is a kilometer away from the campus. It is well connected to Delhi and other parts of India through air (Chandigarh airport is 15 Km from campus), rail (Chandigarh railway station is 13 km) and road (Chandigarh bus terminal is 10 km)
NIPER ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
The NIPER alumni association has been established on 15th February 2003 in the presence of Dr. Anji Reddy (Dr. Reddys Research Labortories). This associaton is ceated with the objectives as bringing all the NIPER students together and get connected to each other and share their research activities.
The NIPER alumni association exists to bring you closer to this talented community as well as to campus life. NIPER Alumni Association vision to bring a close contact among:
(a) Who have graduated from NIPER “The Alumni”
(b) Who are presently doing their post graduation in NIPER
(c) Who would like to join NIPER for their masters and doctoral degrees
As all the members are (going to be) associated with NIPER during some or the other time, there should be something in common to discuss. The interaction among/across the group members will be certainly beneficial for someone, as the experience and knowledge can be shared.
NIPER CAMPUS
Administrtation block: The head of the NIPER where all administrative staff offices are located.
Research blocks: The heart of the NIPER which comprises of various departments where NIPER’ s research outcome comes. Students from all departments got good placements in various foreign universities for higher studies and persuing good industrial jobs.
Management building: A new department recently established with almost 100% placements in good pharmaceutical, national and multinational companies.
National Bioavailability center: The Bioavailability Centre of theInstitute is capable of conducting bio-equivalence studies in healthy volunteers.
National Toxicology Center: It provides good laboratory facility for conducting ‘pre-clinical studies’ of ‘New Chemical Entity’.
Technology Development Center: NIPER undertakes sponsored projects for the development of economically viable processes for bulk pharmaceutical chemicals of synthetic or natural product origin, conventional and novel dosage forms.
Library: The library has obtained institutional membership of DELNET, Chandigarh Libraries Consortium, British Library (Chandigarh), Cuirrent Science Association (Bangalore), and Association of Indian Universities (Delhi).
Computer Center: All the servers, computers and pronters in the Center are connected through 100 Mbps network. The rest of the Institute is also connected to the campus wide area network.
Convention Center: A fully air-conditioned auditorium in NIPER where all national and international workshops, seminars and cultural functions are being held.
Guest House: A well furnished accommodation center of NIPER for guests and visitors.
Dispensary: The Health Center of NIPER.
Hostel: ResidetialCenter for students of NIPER with separate asccommodation for boys and girls with independent rooms.
Mess Facility: It provides healthy food facility for the NIPER students. NIPER Ph.D.’s and Master students co-operatively maintain it under the supervision of warden (one of the faculty member) and an assistant warden.
Cafeteria: A food joint in NIPER running on contract basis
CAMPUS PLACEMENT
Institute has a dedicated training and placement cell which maintains excellent contact with pharmaceutical industries and assist in the placement of students in various organizations having national and international operations. Majopr companies which have conducted the campus interview in the recent years are Dr. Reddy’s Labs, Ranbaxy, Sandoz-Novartis, Lupin, Cipla, Dabur,Nicolas-Piramal, Torrent, Sun-Pharma, Aurigene, Promed, Zandu Pharmaceuticals, McKinsey, Heron International, Pharmarc, Zydus-Cadilla and many more.
